Ford Ranger (Gen3 / Next Gen)
Stop/Start off installation
Step 1:
Ensure the vehicle is completely turned off,
Get good access to the center console and lift the trim for the gear stick surrounds from the front using your fingers.
Step 2:
Find the 12 pin male plug under the STOP/START button area and disconnect it from the switch connector. This is by pushing the small tab in the front-centre of the connector.
Step 3:
Insert the Ouback Diesel Systems inter-connector part of the loom between the switch and the loom, you should now have no loose wires apart from the RED ignition-on add-a-fuse circuit.
Step 4:
Push the fuse 2 pin connector down the side of the panel towards the footwell of the drivers side. Pop down the panel using your fingers which is located under the steering wheel.
Step 5:
Run the red wire towards the fuse panel on the RHS (Where your right knee normally is while driving) and locate the fuse 36 (Usually blue 15 amp).
Step 6:
Remove the existing fuse, keeping it as a spare, and insert the Outback Diesel Systems fuse connector into the receiver for fuse 36. If it is occupied by another add-a-fuse connection like for CB Radio, you will need to probe for an “Ignition on” source fuse and insert a corresponding fuse in its place into the ODS loom, be mindful that the total load of the fuse gang on the connector cannot exceed 20 amps and you will need to fit the correct fuses accordingly for the circuit. The amperage required at minimum is 5 amps for the ODS stop/start off kit (maximum 15 amps).
Step 7:
Close up the panels, ensure wiring is tucked away, cable tie wires as needed and replace all panels into their locked positions.
Step 8:
Start the vehicle and you will see STOP / START has been turned off.
The switch will still act as normal, however the starting state is now OFF.
