There’s a few ways to get your FTE going with a proper modern ECU, like the Boostec ProXtreme Diesel.
These engines are super popular, hold up really well to punishment and are highly under-rated for what they can do.
We’ve tried to make this simple and as a customer of ours using our FTE range of ECU’s/Looms, you’ll fall into one of 3 categories usually:

1. Your vehicle came with an FTE and you want to do some power upgrades
2. Your vehicle is getting an FTE conversion and you want to get it running and you don’t have a loom yet
3. Your vehicle is converted to FTE, is running but you want to get more out of it

Typical fuel tuning map:

Couple of things to remember:

-All our FTE ECU’s have an option to run without a spill valve. I($500-$800 saving)
-You don’t need a tacho conversion box with our ECU, our ECU does this easily. ($150 saving)
-We can convert between manual, 4 speed auto, 5 speed auto and 8HP easily without changing the ECU.
-5 Map select keypads are included with every purchase
-We have an auto-idle setup, so no matter how ridiculous your injectors are, they should work well on idle
-You can run all sorts of turbo setups, with VNT now a popular option.
-We can add MAF control but we’ve found it un-neccessary for air density calculations if you have other sensors
-All looms come with a e-boost control output, we prefer 1VD boost controllers or MAC controllers to plug into our loom

Here is the breakdown:

1) You already have a 1998-2002 105 series FTE or a 79 1998-2007 with an FTE


-We provide a patch harness, 5 map selector box, EDU delete cable if needed, CANBUS pigtail (So you can run a scantool, 4 speed tranny, 8hp tranny etc) AND 4 bar map sensor.
ECU Included

-This will run FTE motors with these parts:

Stock turbo, Upgraded turbo
Stock injectors, +30s, +70s, +90s (We can develop maps for any injector)
Stock valve train (4200rpm), or upgraded valve springs+retainers (5500rpm)
Smooth shut down removed or not
Unmanaged turbo control, bleed valve, Wastegate control or VNT control type turbos
EGT managed fueling / Wideband managed fueling upgrades
If you don’t have cruise control, you can add it in easy
If you don’t have idle up, you can add it in easy

These are:
$3990
including 2 hrs training for you or your tuner, 3 hrs in person/remote tuning.

If you have a 4 speed auto:
Add $1000 for TCU 4 speed (With full lock up solenoid capability, full tuning capability of transmission)

ECU’s are all live tuned
Suitable base maps will be pre-installed.

2) You have an existing 2002-2007 105 Series with 5 speed auto


-We provide a patch harness, 5 map selector box, EDU delete cable if needed, CANBUS adapter (So you can run a scantool, 4 speed tranny, 5 speed A750, 8hp tranny etc) AND 4 bar map sensor is included.

-This will run FTE motors with these parts:

Stock turbo, Upgraded turbo
Stock injectors, +30s, +70s, +90s (We can develop maps for any injector)
Stock valve train (4200rpm), or upgraded valve springs+retainers (5500rpm)
Smooth shut down removed or not
Unmanaged turbo control, bleed valve, Wastegate control or VNT control type turbos
EGT managed fueling / Wideband managed fueling upgrades
*Some models may need work to get CEL active light, Cruise active light, Water temp range display, ABS warning light active (Due to Toyota’s introduction of the BUS/LIN communication)
We do not guarantee these dash displays working correctly but we have made progress and have ways to get them to function perfectly,
either way, we have outputs to gauges / scan gauges using OBD if needed.

3) You have 105 HZ, 105 FZ, 79 HZ (1998-2007) that you’re dropping a FTE into


We’ve made these conversions easy! All we need to do is match your factory vehicle to a correct harness.
Things that we need to know: Barn door or tail gate 105, Year and what original motor you have. Some 105’s have an emissions computer, we need to know if its present.
These harnesses are available and in stock using Mil-spec wiring,
If you want color matched wiring to factory, please message us to organise these.
We work with the most reputable conversion specialists to get everything sorted.

All harnesses are plug and play and completely bypass the EDU.

The only requirement we have is a direct battery connection for ECU relay using our fitting hardware.

On HZ 79, you will need to remove some parts (Like glow wiring and EGR wiring)

Smooth shut down is not standard on these conversions, but can be added for the older blokes that love that.

Most of these conversions will drop straight into manual, 4 speed auto, 5 speed auto powered cars.

 

-This will run FTE motors with these parts:

Stock turbo, Upgraded turbo
Stock injectors, +30s, +70s, +90s (We can develop maps for any injector)
Stock valve train (4200rpm), or upgraded valve springs+retainers (5500rpm)
Smooth shut down removed or not
Unmanaged turbo control, bleed valve, Wastegate control or VNT control type turbos
EGT managed fueling / Wideband managed fueling upgrades
*Some models may need work to get cruise working and basic gauge cluster setup.
We recommend working with one of trusted installers, where unavailable we can remotely login and setup your ECU with you.

These are:
$6790 including 2 hrs training, 3 hrs in person/remote tuning.
If you need a TCU for 4 speed or 5 speed, these are for $1000 and include all the lock up logic.

these looms are also capable of communication with 8hp transmissions.

Suitable base maps will be pre-installed.
Laptop with USB is recommended.



 

4) You have a 80 series or GU patrol that you’re wanting to convert or have converted to FTE


All of these special category conversions require you to send us your standard engine loom.
We usually will turn these around with an ECU + PNP Loom within 2 weeks

-This will run FTE motors with these parts:

Stock turbo, Upgraded turbo
Stock injectors, +30s, +70s, +90s (We can develop maps for any injector)
Stock valve train (4200rpm), or upgraded valve springs+retainers (5500rpm)
Smooth shut down removed or not
Unmanaged turbo control, bleed valve, Wastegate control or VNT control type turbos
EGT managed fueling / Wideband managed fueling upgrades
*Some models may need work to get cruise working and basic gauge cluster setup.
We recommend working with one of trusted installers, where unavailable we can remotely login and setup your ECU with you.

These are:

If you have already a 2 row or 4 row harness for OEM ECU, you can use one of our patch harnesses without the need to convert your original loom

For distributors and dealers or those guys with multiple projects:

We have a bench flashing loom available.
This power adapter can run your ecu direct off your laptop or power bank (12v PD)
Or can be powered by 12v bullnose 5.5mm plug
The power loom can be daisy-chained, so where you need to bench flash a TCU and ECU (or test their operation) then this is completely possible.

If you plan on using EGT sensors, please try get a K-type sensor, they are far more accurate and can be fed to the ECU for fueling control/display.

For the ultimate control, you can feed the ECU with a wideband 0-5v output, when configured, you can use this to control fuelling or smoke for instance.
